Investment Figures

In 2004, 111 senior researchers and 453 research staff with funding of 16 million Euros core funding and 23 million external funding contributed to the field of food and nutritional sciences in Finland. The food industry's research and development investments in Finland are at the top EU level in per capita terms. Research funding in the subfields in 2000–2004 was highest for food bioprocessing and technology, followed by food safety and microbiology, and least for nutrition and consumer sciences.
